Parish Administrator’s Column
30 June 2024
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Patrick and St. Malachi,
I want to thank everyone for your continued participation as we bring a conclusion to the Working Group Phase of our Collaboration Initiative. I especially want to thank the nearly sixty parishioners who have dedicated 1200+ hours of work since March.
As each of the 8 Working Groups submit their final recommendations, I will be gathering with various consultative groups in the parish over the next several weeks. While not all recommendations may be implemented, those adopted will be prioritized into three possible categories: Immediate, Near Future, and Long Range (or similar words). The idea is that these recommendations are considered for feasibility and ranked by priority. All of them will be shared near the end of August or early September. One of the key themes we’ve been using throughout the Working Group phase is, “United and Unique.” I believe this captures our new relationship that Bishop Malesic envisions as St. Malachi becomes an oratory and our two parishes come together. Please continue to keep our parishes – and the Collaboration leadership – in your prayers as we conclude this phase and enter into the discernment phase. May the Lord bless our efforts through the intercession of Saint Malachi and Saint Patrick!
Faithfully yours,
Fr. Gurnick
PS – On behalf of all of us, I want to sincerely thank Jeanette Shemo, Administrative Manager of Saint Malachi, for her faithful service! Effective July 1, Jeanette will step away from this role and serve as Accountant for both St. Malachi and St. Patrick.
