Dear Friends and Parishioners,
By now, most of you are aware of the most recent shooting at St. Malachi this past Monday during our evening meal. Sadly, this is the second incident within several weeks to impact St. Malachi. While Monday Night Meal will be temporarily suspended, we continue to assess and pursue new safety measures to increase protection for our volunteers and our guests. We also hope to be gathering for a special evening of prayer and reflection in the near future. I want to take this time to thank our staff and volunteers who did an outstanding job – in both incidents – considering the stress and momentary chaos each occasion caused. I am also grateful for the dozens of police, EMS, and other First Responders. They not only handled the crisis in a swift manner, but their kindness to all of us is greatly appreciated. Please continue to pray for peace on our streets as we address safety measures for all who call Ohio City their home.
