Be a Part of L’Arche Here in Cleveland
L’Arche Cleveland is a faith-based, nonprofit that provides loving, caring group homes for adults with developmental disabilities. At L’Arche, our residents are called “Core Members” because they are at the core of our mission. We are not a temporary placement nor a way station in life; we provide a home for the Core Members’ entire lives. We become the Core Members’ family. For some, we are their only family. Please remember the Core Members, the assistants who lovingly care for them, and our management team in your prayers. (larchecleveland.org)
St. Malachi Run Food Drive for Back Door Ministry 2021, Thank You!
As we wrap up the month of March, we are wrapping up our Food Drive. What a COVID success story! When we could not host our annual event, we pivoted and had a food drive instead. We collected 6,056 food items and cash donations of $2,095! Over 50% of our donations came from new donors that saw our news story on Channels 5 and 19. THANK YOU to our business partners, Second Sole of Lakewood, Achilles Running Shops, Willoughby and Cleveland Heights and Ritchies Sporting Goods. Please support these local businesses and mark your calendars for the Historic Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day St. Malachi Church Run/Walk on 9/18/2021! With a 2 mile walking distance and lovely September weather, let’s make this a real Parish community event!
The Ministry of Care
The Ministry of Care is a newly formed ministry of St. Malachi Parish to reach out to parishioners who have asked for friendly phone calls at this time. Volunteers are needed to call a few members on a regular basis. If you would be able to make these phone calls, please contact Linda Wilson at lk.wilson@yahoo.com or call 216-228-5306. If you call please be sure to follow the phone’s instructions so that I will receive your call.
Time to Shuffle the Deck – Feb 2021
Have you noticed the new faces at Mass? Are they new to St. Malachi Parish or did they go to a different Mass? How do you react? It certainly is more complicated with all of us wearing masks and sitting 6 feet apart. Remember the call of our Mission Statement:
Together,
We are a Eucharistic People,
United in Prayer,
Welcoming to all,
Serving those who are poor and in need.
As members of St. Malachi Parish, we are all called to be welcoming. Please use these weeks of Lent to look around you to see who is there, feel your response to the idea of going over to introduce yourself, (maintaining social distancing – six feet) and ask the Holy Spirit to grace you through the Eucharist to be ever more open to the Ministry of Welcome. After Easter, the Parish Council and the Fruitful Disciples will develop a new welcome packet and several strategies for us all to join in the call to build our parish up for the greater honor and glory of God. If you have any ideas, please email Patrick Cleary-Burns, Council chairperson, at pclearyburns@gmail.com.

Clothing Ministry
As cooler weather and the Christmas holidays approach, it is helpful to consider the following guidelines when you or someone you know are considering donating to the St. Malachi Clothing Ministry:
—The Clothing Ministry receives a great many donations between Thanksgiving and New Year. It would be most helpful to donate winter clothing after this holiday period if at all possible.
—A limit of 6 bags or boxes of donations per donation source, unless pre-arranged with a member of the Malachi Center, St. Malachi Church staff or clothing ministry volunteers (Pat Daw 216-338-5260 or Mary Carol or John Lucic 216-221-5017).
—A request that 75% of donations be FOR MEN, including seasonal, clean, lightly worn or new casual clothing, such as pants, jeans, t-shirts, button shirts, sweatshirts, socks, shoes and seasonal hoodies, coats, gloves and hats. Ideally, 25% or less of donations should be for woman and children.
—Please bring donations to the church basement Monday-Friday between 8:30AM to 2PM, or before or after the weekend masses. The church basement door is on the north side of the church.
