Immaculate Conception …Jubilee Year of Mercy

maryTuesday, December 8, 2015 is the Feast of the Immaculate  Conception  of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation and the patronal feast of the United States. There will be a Vigil Mass Monday at 7 PM; Masses on Tuesday are at 7 AM and Noon. (St. Patrick, Bridge has 5:30 PM Mass on both days).
Additionally, December 8 is the 50th  Anniversary of the close
of Vatican II. It also is the beginning of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy which continues until November 20, 2016, the Feast of Christ the King.
In Pope Francis’ words:“We want to live this Year in the light of the
Lord’s words.
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
“In the light of the Lord’s words”  St. Malachi opportunities…

Feed your soul with the Word any Tuesday evenings in December 8, 22, and 29 at 7:OO PM in the School. Savor the richness given to us by God. Materials provided. All welcome.

Women’s Reflection and Prayer December 12, 2015 10:00AM

All women are invited to a time of being with each other and supporting each other in reflection and prayer… and coffee! We are gathering on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Centering Space, 14812 Lake Ave., Lakewood. Please join us and bring a friend!

Women of St. Malachi Parish you are invited to a retreat starting Friday evening June 3 through Sunday June 5, 2016 at Our Lady of the Pines in Freemont, OH. Stay for one night or two, it is up to yPray Faith God Rocksou. We are hoping to deepen our relationship with God and build women’s community through group reflection and some quiet time. Watch the bulletin for more details; registrations will be at the doors of the church and on our website in soon.

This Wednesday, December 2, 2015 marks the 35th Anniversary of the martyrdom of Jean Donovan, Sr. Dorothy Kazel OSU, Sr. Ita Ford MM and Sr. Maura Clarke MM.

All are invited to an anniversary prayer service at 7 :00PM in the chapel of the Ursuline Motherhouse, Ursuline Educational Center, 2600 Lander Rd., Pepper Pike.

Men’s Ministry Gathering – 11/21/2015

On Saturday, November 21, 2015, St. Malachi, St. Wendell and St. Patrick men are invited to attend a webcast and discussion on the topic, “Continue Following the Mystics Through the Narrow Gates.” This event will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 25200 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted.

Men’s Gathering Breakfast – 11/21/2015

St. Malachi, St. Patrick and St. Wendelin men are invited to our Men’s Gathering Breakfast Saturday November 21, 2015 at Blessed Trinity, 14040 Puritas Ave. (corner of W. 140 St.) 8:30 – 10:30 AM. This Tuesday, November 17, 2015, Richard Clark, founding president of Saint Martin de Porres High School, is our Everyday Prophet. We will start in the hall at 12:30 PM, following Noon Mass.

Everyday Prophets is a lunchtime program to celebrate the work and dedication of those in our community who serve others. Speakers share stories of their life journey. Bring your lunch – beverage and dessert will be provided. Enjoy the stories, fellowship and inspiration shared.

Preparing for Advent, 11/22/2015, 10:15AM

advent7 1100x800Join us on Sunday, November 22, 2015 in the School Hall at 10:15AM for a special time of preparation for the upcoming Advent season.

Sunday, 11/22/2015 is the Feast of Christ the King, the end of the Church year, so Advent will begin the following week.

During this one hour in the School Hall we will prepare our hearts and hands for Advent through loving service in the name of Christ our King.

If you can, please bring PB & J, bread, socks, hats & gloves, hand warmers and cereal bars for gift bags that we will be preparing for our neighbors in less fortunate circumstances.

While we are together we will have a variety of service activities, with something appropriate for every age.  These activities will include making sandwiches, writing Christmas cards for our parish shut-ins, and preparing gift packages for our homeless neighbors.  In addition, we will have Advent materials available that you can take home for your home Advent devotions.   Come to this great St. Malachi Parish event, there is something for all ages!
