Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land, 09/13/20
Due to COVID-19, we were unable to host the annual Good Friday Holy Land Collection. Pope Francis has approved this year’s collection to be conducted on the weekend of September 13-14, 2020 in throughout the world, the closest Sunday the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Holy Land are under the custodianship of the world-wide network of Franciscans who have been entrusted not just the temporal upkeep of the physical shrines but also the pastoral care of Christians in this region of the world. For example, over 10,000 students attend Catholic schools and migrant workers are assisted as they find themselves so far from home. They also assist the populations impacted by war in Syria and those who are now refugees now scattered in various countries. Thank you for any assistance you may offer as part of this universal campaign to assist our brothers and sisters in the birthplace of our Lord and the heart of salvation history.
Thank You to Mask Makers!
We send our thanks to Nadge Herceg and Cathy Jacob for their time and love in sewing and donating face masks to St. Malachi. We expect to wear masks for at least 12-18 months, and will make good use of these artistic masks. Thank you so much!

Mass Schedule Change Due to Covid-19
In the light of COVID-19, the Mass schedule has been adjusted due to the fact that several priests who assist us are in an at risk population and may not be able to celebrate Mass with us at this time. The new schedule is as follows:
Saturday Vigil Mass: 4:00 PM
Sunday Mass: 10:00 AM
Weekday Masses: Noon—Tuesdays & Fridays
We ask everyone who attends to wear a mask and take your temperature before coming to Mass. Social distancing will be observed.
The bishops of Ohio continue to dispense Catholics from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. We ask that you take the necessary precautions to stay healthy. If that means joining us this weekend, we welcome you. If it means that you will continue to stay at home to protect yourself, we wish you God’s blessings and know that you are in our prayers. Remember your health is of utmost importance.

In addition, he invites all to come to the inside of St. Malachi Church This Sunday, May 10, 2020, between 10:00AM and Noon, for a brief moment of quiet prayer, to meet and greet friends, and to light a candle for a mother in your life.
Good Shepherd Sunday 2020, Shelter Me
For the feast of Good Shepherd Sunday, as we continue to shelter-at-home, St. Malachi Parish offers to you this prayer-song, Shelter Me, written by Fr. Michael Joncas.
Here is the prayer:
Shelter Me
1. Shepherd and sheep, my God and I:
to fresh green fields you led my steps in days gone by.
You gave me rest by quiet springs
and filled my soul with peace your loving presence brings.
REFRAIN: O shelter me, O shelter me:
the way ahead is dark and difficult to see.
O shelter me, O shelter me:
all will be well if only you will shelter me.
2. Yet now I tread a diff’rent way;
death dogs my path with stealthy steps from day to day.
I cannot find your peaceful place
but dwell in dreary darkness, longing for your face.
REFRAIN
3. I will look back in days to come
and realize your faithfulness has led me home.
Within your house I’ll find my peace,
trusting that in your mercy you have sheltered me.
We thank cantors Brian Marshall, Dorthy McCarthy, videographer Peter Toomey, and Director of Liturgy Charlene McElwee for this prayer.
Masses Continues to Be Suspended As “Stay at Home” Order Remains in Place
The Bishops of Ohio have decided to further suspend all public liturgies until May 29th with the hope that public Mass will resume on the weekend of May 30/31. This, of course, depends on further directives by the Governor.
With this in mind, diocesan staffs will be working on reasonable, gradual, and responsible initiatives for welcoming back the faithful in time to Sunday Mass. Pastors are encouraged to be working with their staff members and parish leaders to begin preparatory steps. These preparatory measures, of course, will be determined once the diocese distributes liturgical guidelines in the near future.
Our staff members have also been working with engaged couples, RCIA, and others who are preparing for sacraments. We will also continue to work with families who need to delay Masses of Christian Burial.
Thank you for your continued patience and for your prayers for the parish community and for those personally impacted by COVID-19.
