40 Days for Life begins September 22, 2021. The visible, public centerpiece of 40 Days for Life is a focused, 40-day, non-stop, round-the-clock prayer vigil outside a single Planned Parenthood center or other abortion facility in your community. It is a peaceful and educational presence. Those who are called to stand witness during this 24-hour-a-day presence send a powerful message to the community about the tragic reality of abortion.

THE SOLUTION: For nearly 25 years, Seeds of Literacy has provided FREE GED® (high school equivalency) test preparation and basic education tutoring to adults in Cleveland. A high school equivalency is directly correlated to:
Our students are committed to their education, and they study while juggling jobs, kids, and incomes that fall below the federal poverty line. But they all say one thing: The individual attention they receive from tutors at Seeds puts their dreams within reach.
Our volunteer tutors are truly the heart of Seeds of Literacy. As a tutor, you’ll provide one-to-one attention, instruction, and encouragement to adult students as they work toward the GED® credential and a life of possibilities.
Our success depends on one-to-one educational instruction, which means we’re always looking for more dedicated people who’d like to get involved and work with our growing number of students in our Virtual Classroom and our physical classrooms.
Unlike other tutoring opportunities, tutoring with Seeds allows volunteers to work with adults instead of children. Our adult learners have seen firsthand how tough life can be without an education; they are committed. And since no two adults have the same story, volunteers have fun engaging with lots of different personalities. In the reading from the letter of St. James we are urged to be “doers” of the Gospel, not just listeners. Being a “steward” of God’s Word is a matter of listening to the Good News, embracing the Good News and putting the Good News into action in our day-to-day lives. And whenever we are uncertain as to what decisions to make or actions to take as good stewards of the Gospel, St. James reminds us: We can never go wrong if we resist popular values that are not compatible with the Gospel, and we come to the aid of those who are burdened, distressed and poor.
Walking with Purpose (WWP) Opening your Heart, the first of the WWP bible studies for women, has formed a group that will meet weekly for 22 weeks beginning in September. This weekend, The U.S. Conference of Bishops and the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland will have a special collection on behalf of the people of Haiti devastated by the earthquake and Tropical Storm Grace. As a result of both disasters many Church properties, along with homes and businesses, have been severely damaged or destroyed.
