Catholic schools make a profound impact on a child’s life. You can help provide more opportunities for students to obtain a Catholic education. The weekend of August 22-23, 2020 Faith & Values Appeal for Education, will be held at St. Malachi & parishes across the diocese to raise funds to help provide tuition assistance to needy students & their families here in our diocese. Please be generous in your support of Catholic school students. Envelopes for this special appeal are included with your parish envelopes. You can make a secure donation online at www. CatholicCommunity.org/education.

Summer is wrapping up and unfortunately COVID-19 cases are increasing in some areas. During this challenging time people are turning to us for help. St. Malachi Parish wants to answer that call but we still depend on online donations to continue our ministry.
We prayerfully invite you to sign up for eGiving from your computer, smartphone or tablet and set up a recurring donation or make a one-time gift.
Sign up today by visiting faith.direct/OH337, or text ‘Enroll’ to (216) 930-1310 or look for the purple donate button in the middle of the home page of our website.
Thank you for your continued support of our parish family.

The Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity is looking for donations of used and unused tools….or related construction materials that can be used to help eliminate substandard housing. Bring your items to one of the Soonhalter Tool Donations Stations during the month of August. Most tools are placed directly into service at Habitat sites. The rest are sold at one of Habitat’s ReStores. Every item you donate helps keep Habitat for Humanity working. To arrange a contactless pickup or for larger items, email Rosemarie at rascherl@sonnhalter.com or call 216-242-0420, Ext. 130. For more information, visit sonnhalter.com/tooldrive.

St. Malachi Parish is committed to building God’s kingdom for the future. St. Malachi partnered with The Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Cleveland to assist parishioners in legacy giving opportunities. The Foundation offers several options such as bequests and savings bonds. When you make plans to leave a gift to the Church, you demonstrate your gratitude to God for all the gifts with which God has blessed you. To learn more about the Legacy Giving Program, please contact Mary Lou Ozimek at 216-696-6525 x4070. Brochures explaining the program are located at the church doors.

Do you like to play in the plants? If so, please consider adopting a section of the campus grounds for weeding, cleanup, and trimming periodically over the summer. Set your own schedule. Please bring your own tools and refuse bags. We need help with the flower beds and garden areas. There will be no mulching or extra planting this year. Together, we can keep what we have looking good and growing well. You, of course, are welcome to adopt more than one area. Contact Kay Vine at 216-563-1993 or kmvine3@gmail.com.

We are in need of three individuals to assume the responsibility of washing & ironing the altar linens—purificators, towels & corporals—that we use at Mass and returning them to the Church. The laundry will be hanging in a plastic bag in the vestment closet. Carry it home, put in the washer without touching it and dispose of the bag. This work is done on a rotating first through fifth week basis so signing on means one time per month. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Contact Kay Vine at 216-563-1993 or kmvine3@gmail.com.

During these difficult times, we appreciate your financial support. Some parishioners asked if donations and contributions can be mailed to the rectory since it is closed. We want to assure everyone that we are receiving mail at the rectory and are picking it up on a regular basis. You also have the option of donating on-line via Faith Direct. If you are not using Faith Direct, you can sign up today by visiting faith.direct/OH337, or text ‘Enroll’ to 216-930-1310. You also have the option to visit our website, www.stmalachi.org, and donate via PayPal.

We continue to collect funds to support the work of the Kino Border Initiative. The Coronavirus has had a huge impact on the people served by Kino as well as the ability for volunteers to provide in kind support. Since mid-March, life at the border has been significantly altered. If you have not already done so, please send your Lenten offering to St. Malachi with the word “Kino” in the memo line of your check.

We will take up the Catholic Home Missions Appeal. Today, over 40% of dioceses in the United States are considered mission territories because they are unable to fund the essential pastoral work their communities need. Your support of this appeal helps ease the struggle of these dioceses. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this appeal. More information can be found at www. usccb.org/home-missions.
