One day, your children will leave home. Sadly, for most young Catholics that means abandoning their faith. But it doesn’t have to if you impact their faith now. Get started with a Holy Family Fest—a God-centered family vacation—at Catholic Familyland®. Here, each member of your family can encounter Jesus Christ in a way that makes the Faith come alive. Parish Bulletins
Many of our parishioners have decided that remaining at home and delaying their return to Mass is in the best interest of their health. If you are one who has decided to postpone your return and would like a copy of the bulletin mailed to you, please call or email the rectory at 216-861-5343 or rectory@stmalachi.org and a weekly bulletin will be mailed to your home.
MAL Administrator’s Column 6.7.2020
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Malachi,
As we had a beautiful weekend on May 30th and 31st, it was so evident that many were ready to return to public worship. It was wonderful to see all of those familiar faces, even as mouths were covered with masks. As we continue to gradually resume our public liturgies, I take this opportunity to thank members of our staff and parish volunteers who have spent tireless hours in preparing the church for our return – and for those who come to clean after each liturgy. Thank you!
Now that we are stepping into this new normal, I offer a few reminders for the sake of everyone’s safety:
- The expectation is that everyone is wearing a mask (with the exception for those described by the CDC);
- Social Distancing is the key to our success in helping to prevent the spread – inside and outside of the church;
- Entry will remain through the Main Doors; the collection basket is available as you enter;
- Upon entering, please sit anywhere there is a marked space (secured on the end of each pew). All other areas have a sign that reads, “Do not sit here.”
- While it’s tempting and certainly understandable to want to visit with one another, we need to ask everyone to remain in their places once they’ve entered the church. Otherwise, the aisles are blocked and social distancing is impossible.
- For Holy Communion, please respond AMEN and then remove your mask. Return your mask once you’ve received the Holy Eucharist. The ministers will continue to distribute at each seating area.
- When Mass has concluded, please WAIT for an usher or other volunteer to dismiss your row. Exit only through the front side doors. Parish bulletins are available on your way out of the church.
For those remaining home at this time, please know we continue to remember you in prayer. Please continue to check out our website for important news and information.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Gurnick
St. Malachi Parish, Homily of Fr. Michael Gurnick, Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2020
St. Malchi Parish is pleased to announce that it opened for Sunday Mass for the first time since the COVID-19 shutdown.
To listen to the homily, plus some opening and closing remarks from Fr. Gurnick, please click here.
With social distancing, Mass looks quite a bit different. Rigorous procedures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all. The photo above shows a capacity crowd, with all family units 6 feet apart.
All parishioners, whether in attendance or not, remain in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers.
Parish Council Nominations, 2020
What a pivotal time this is for our parish! We need a wise and caring Parish Council to lead us through these next few years. We have 5 openings for the coming election – (4) three-year terms and (1) one-year term. If you are interested in serving, please contact Patrick Cleary-Burns at pclearyburns @gmail.com or Cathy Graham at billandcathy @roadrunner.com or 216-570-0877. Due to the required social distancing, Parish elections are being extended until restrictions are lifted. We ask everyone in the parish to pray that the Holy Spirit will call the council we need for the coming years.
Prayer During A Health Crisis
Compassionate and Loving Father,
In the face of confusion and concern
impart to us the calm of your presence.
In You allow us to find hope and healing.
Be with those who serve the sick and give them Your caring hands.
Be with those who lead and give them Your Spirit of wisdom.
Be with those who have fallen ill and give them Your comforting heart.
Wrap your arms around our world
and hold us in your love.
Allow us at this time of trial to then
serve as instruments of that love to all we meet.
We ask this in Your Name.
Amen.

Mass Schedule Change Due to Covid-19
In the light of COVID-19, the Mass schedule has been adjusted due to the fact that several priests who assist us are in an at risk population and may not be able to celebrate Mass with us at this time. The new schedule is as follows:
Saturday Vigil Mass: 4:00 PM
Sunday Mass: 10:00 AM
Weekday Masses: Noon—Tuesdays & Fridays
We ask everyone who attends to wear a mask and take your temperature before coming to Mass. Social distancing will be observed.
The bishops of Ohio continue to dispense Catholics from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. We ask that you take the necessary precautions to stay healthy. If that means joining us this weekend, we welcome you. If it means that you will continue to stay at home to protect yourself, we wish you God’s blessings and know that you are in our prayers. Remember your health is of utmost importance.
