Good Friday is a day of abstinence from meat for all Catholics who are over 14 years of age and of fasting for Catholics from their 18th through 59th birthday. People with fragile health, special medical conditions or other serious reasons are not required to fast.

Based on recent CDC guidelines and the directives of government leadership, the Diocese of Cleveland has revised its policy regarding the use of masks. The key changes impacting all of us are that:
1) Signs requesting the use of masks may be removed from the church building.
2) The wearing of masks during the distribution of Holy Communion is lifted.
3) Distribution of the Precious Blood remains prohibited until further notice.
4) Continue the practice of offering the sanitizing of hands prior to the reception of Holy Communion.
Those parishioners who are ill, have significant health risk factors or care for someone who is immune-compromised or ill, as well as those who have significant fear of anxiety about contacting the coronavirus in a large group of persons are not obligated to attend Mass. Though the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady Help of the Sick, may God bless us and keep us free from all illness.

Still using envelopes for your Sunday offertory? Lent is a time to consider a new approach. Switching to eGiving instead of cash or checks is a more efficient, convenient way to give. Faith Direct – our parish’s online giving platform – is a tool you can use to deepen your commitment to the church and the ministries you care about most. Your recurring gifts will sustain our mission month after month, and it will also help our parish by cutting the costs of envelopes (and using less paper!), and reducing the time we spend processing cash and checks. During Lent we are reminded to develop a more conscious spiritual life, and share what we have with those in need. Making the change to eGiving for your parish support is a step in the right direction! You can set up a recurring donation or make a one-time gift. Sign up today by visiting faith.direct/OH337; text ‘Enroll’ to 216-930-1310 or visit the St. Malachi website, www.stmalachi.org, and click on the donate button. Thank you for your continued support of our parish family.
