The Affirming, Welcoming and Engaging (AWE) Process was begun by St. Malachi Parish several years ago. This process is designed to strengthen the parish in affirming, welcoming and engaging those who come here, thereby supporting their spiritual development and the mission of St. Malachi.
The AWE Process is led by the AWE Core Team whose role is to guide and lead this process at St. Malachi. AWE is not a governing body but rather facilitates an ongoing process which engages the congregation to discern challenges, create strategies to address these challenges and empower individuals in implementation of these strategies. The AWE Core Team collaborates closely with Parish Council and the leadership of Parish Commissions in this work.
The skills/talents required by the Core Team include an understanding of group process and organizational behavior, comfort with ambiguity, technical skills with surveys and measurement, the ability to recruit volunteers, patience and the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
The time commitment for the Core Team includes attendance at 4 to 6 evening meetings per year plus several hours per month working on at least one of the AWE strategies.
