Stewardship Moments: Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
If we want to know what Jesus’ parable is about in today’s Gospel, it seems that we don’t need to work too hard because Saint Luke tell us right at the beginning: “Jesus told his disciples a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart.” This parable has often been used to bring comfort to us about our prayer life. But could there be a more challenging message for those who take stewardship seriously?
Widows were the poorest and most vulnerable of people in Jesus’ time. Oppressive legal and economic structures were the norm. Jesus embraced with great compassion the poor and the marginalized. Could it be that we are also encouraged to pray persistently for the poor, the weak and the vulnerable as we hear their cry for justice? And that we must not lose heart that we can effect change in their lives?

Choir Rehearsals begin 9.12.2019 9.10.2019
Here we are at the end of the summer and that means our musical ensembles are ready to get revved up and back into the swing of rehearsals. Sunday Choir resumes practice on Thursday evenings beginning September 12, 2019 at 7:30PM in church. Our primary ministry is to lead the assembly at the 11:30AM Mass.
The Resurrection (funeral) Choir meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month to learn new music, polish some of the old favorites and prepare for special events like our annual Mass of Remembrance. We begin this season on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at 10:30AM in the choir loft. Our primary ministry is to lead the assembly in song at funerals so members need to be available in the mornings when most funerals are scheduled.
Come join us! Call Charlene (216-861-5343) at the rectory for more information.
