Our Small Basket and Big Ticket Raffles: Tickets are 6 for $5 for mini-raffle, new this year are $20 tickets for special prizes including a Florida Condo, Dine Around Town and Ritz Carlton overnight stay with tickets to Morgan Wallen.

As you know we received the first of two official decrees for our Collaboration Initiative from Bishop Malesic. How exciting as we enjoy St. Malachi’s Annual Walk/Run on Saturday of this weekend and St. Patrick celebrates the patronal feast on Monday. Lots of good news to share with our friends and supporters!
While the Decree of Extinctive Union may sound a bit technical and jarring (and final), this is a necessary step forward as St. Malachi becomes an oratory (designated as a place for sacred worship) and continues to provide ministries of charity in the Old Angle neighborhood.
Effective April 27, 2025, our new relationship between St. Patrick and St. Malachi allows us to move forward with implementation plans established by nearly 80 of our parishioners who have been working on this initiative for the past 18 months!
As councils and commissions are being established, parishioners will be receiving regular updates and will have the opportunity to offer input as has been our approach throughout the process.
We also need leaders to serve in many of these positions of service. Folks with backgrounds and interests in faith formation, spiritual formation, liturgy, facilities management, finance, charitable outreach, and other areas of pastoral care are all needed.
On Sunday, March 30th, at St. Malachi Hall, after our wrap-up gathering of the Divine Renovation Reflection Series, parishioners are invited to join us for a special introduction to Discerning Leadership in Our Parish. This presentation invites anyone who may be interested in learning more about serving on these new commissions and councils through a thoughtful discernment process. Mark your calendar for March 30th (3-4:30pm). All present leaders and those who may wish to learn more are encouraged to join us.

Nail crosses and prayer cards are available in the basket next to the adoration cross in front of St. Malachi’s shrine. Be sure to take a cross for your Lenten journey and return it on Good Friday or any time during the Easter season.
The parishes of St. Wendelin, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Peter, St. Malachi, and St. Patrick will be participating in our annual diocesan Night of Confessions at St. Ignatius HS’ Chapel from 5pm until 8pm. Parking available across Lorain.

In January of 2025, 8 Implementation Teams were tasked with spending the next few months drafting the Missions, By-laws, and Membership of the Councils (Pastoral and Finance) and Commissions that will eventually do the work of running our parish when we officially become one. The Teams worked in the areas of Communication; Parish Council; Finances & Budget; Liturgy & Worship; Physical Plant & Facilities; Faith Formation & Spiritual Life; Ministries of Charity; and Calendar, Events and Hospitality.
Important 2025 dates looking forward:
Please join us at any of the following times on March 5th for Mass and Distribution of ashes. Although not a Holy Day of Obligation, Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. Fasting is obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal, as well as two smaller meals that together are not equal to a full meal. Abstinence from meat is required from age 14 onwards.
