Advent Prayer
Lord Jesus, master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas. We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day, We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us. We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom. We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your pres ence. We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light. To you we say, “Come Lord Jesus!’ Amen.

Help Needed
Hospitality is looking for help planning a “Palentines” Day Dance in February to be a Malachi Friendraiser. People who enjoy a party, are creative, and can organize a group are welcome to be part of this group. We are only going to have a total of three meetings plus the dance on 2.15.
The first meeting is on Thursday, December 12th at 5:30pm in the parish meeting room on the second floor of the school building. Please contact Cathy Graham for more details cathy.g@stmalachi.org (216) 570- 0877.
Avoid Scam Emails Posing as Official Parish Correspondence
As we approach the holidays scammers are increasingly on the prowl. Please be advised that individual staff members from the parish will never solicit individuals for monetary assistance of any kind. Any official campaign for fundraising is done through general parish correspondence and the email address should be recognized. Look carefully! In general, anything that sounds desperate is most likely a scam. Simply delete these fraudulent messages and never reply to them or click onto any of their links.
For helpful information about online scamming, go to the Better Business Bureau’s website: bbb.org. If you have any doubt, or to report suspected fraud, please contact our parish office administration@stpatrickbridge.org or 216-631-6872.
Prayer for the Third Week of Advent, Prayer with St. John the Baptist
Through the intercession of St. John the Baptist, help us to remember the least fortunate, and how caring for them shares in the caring of the beloved Christ-child. Bring Your generosity into our community. Amen.
Be an Angel in 2024!
IT’S A WIN-WIN- Eligible donors receive a dollar-for dollar tax credit*, and students get scholarships! Donations to the Angel Scholarship Fund (ASF) helped make it possible for our parishes and schools to raise more than $6.7 million in the 2023 tax year, and for a growing number of families to receive tuition assistance for their children to attend a high-quality Catholic school. We encourage all Ohio taxpayers to consider making an ASF donation that may be eligible for the state tax credit when filing a 2024 Ohio tax return.
Contact the ASF office for more information on how to “Be an Angel!” 216 902-1312 or asfinfo@catholiccommunity.org www.catholiccommunity.org/angel
Ministry Leaders
There will be an outreach to the neighborhood, especially all the high rises, on December 12. If you have an event, prayer, or anything else you want to invite our neighbors to, please have 100 copies of the information (flyers) to the church office by Wednesday December 11 at noon.
Two parishioners will deliver them to our neighbors the following day.
Administrator’s Column
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Our parish will soon be experiencing the Implementation Phase of our collaboration between St. Patrick and St. Malachi. As we move into this phase, parishioners will be asked to participate in a couple of ways. First, we are establishing Implementation Teams and are reaching out to individuals who have some experience in those areas described in the recommendations made last August. These individuals are being asked to serve on various teams because of their prior interest and leadership. Second, we are looking for all parishioners to offer critical input as we examine some of these key areas impacting parish life. Some of these areas include our weekend and weekday liturgical schedule, our current and future use of some of our buildings on both parish campuses, and the programs that touch upon faith formation, spiritual life, and ministries of charity. We will also need to address the topic of a parish census which has not occurred in many years at either parish. We also want to invite every parishioner to join us for a reflection and study series, beginning in January, based on the book, Divine Renovation: Bringing Your Parish from Maintenance to Mission. Every participant will receive a copy of the book and weekly conversations will focus on each of the chapters. Small groups will be scheduled each week with the aid of a facilitator to lead the conversation. These facilitators will be available at various times each week, some in person and others via Zoom, for the convenience of everyone. More details are coming soon but please keep the evening of Wednesday, January 15, available for our “big kick off”. The evening will begin with a light supper after the 5:30pm Mass and then continue with an orientation for the series. Please mark your calendars! As we continue with this holy season of Advent may our hearts continue to be filled with joyful expectation. May you and your loved ones experience the grace God so eagerly desires for every one of us. Come Lord Jesus,
Fr. Gurnick
